Uses of all objects on all floors, from left to right.
    ROOF
    Four leaf clover - Part of Candelium Illuminatum spell.
    Bottle ef Liquid - Give it to Florin and take it back again to restore your energy.

    FOURTH FLOOR
    Red Crystal - Part of Crystallium Spectralls spell.
    Ancient Scroll - Read it for a big clue.
    Green Crystal - Part of Crystailium Spectralls spell.
    Javlin - Give this to Samsun and tell him to help when at the Pit.
    THIRD FLOOR
    Engraved Candle - The other bit of the Candelium Illuminatum. You must have the shield before you can cast the spell!
    Teleport key - You must have this to use the Teleport pad.
    Red Herring - Part of Fumaticus Protecticum spell.
    Telepert pad - Must be on the floor before you use it. Keep it in the lift.
    Glowing bottle - Used to pass the bottle rooms. Drop it to release the Banshee.
    SECOND FLOOR
    Book of Shadows - Give this to Orik.
    Gold bar - Give this to Florin.
    Lumps of brickwork - Drop these one on top of the other to climb the Tower.
    White gold ring - Part of Crystallium Spectralis.
    Blue Crystal - Part of Crystallium Spectralis.
    FIRST FLOOR
    Tube of glue - Give this to Florin.
    Trumpet - Give this to Elrand. Summon him, using Elf Horn, to the wall on the Second Floor and command him to help.
    GROUND FLOOR
    Shield - Use this when casting Candelium Illuminatum.
    Strange Liquid - Stand on it and cast Amouris Photonicus.
    Pocket Laser - Summon Rosmar, give this to her and command her to help.
    Broken Talisman - Give this to Florin if he has the Gold bar and glue. Command him to help.
    BASEMENT
    Power-pong plant - Part of Fumaticus Protecticum spell.
    In addition, Samsun carried an Elf Horn, which you blow to summon characters, and Eirand has Miolnir, Thor's Hammer.
    SPELLS
    Crystallium Spectrallis
    Goto the Most Magic Room (Ground Floor). Drop the three crystals on the floor. Summon Orik, and give him the crystal ball. You must be carrying the White Gold Ring and the Wand Of Command. Cast the spell and throw the crystals at Gimbal to free him.
    Candelium Illuminatum
    Drop four-leaf clover. To cast the spell safely you must carry the shield. When this is done, cast the spell and the candle will be lit.
    Amouris Photonicus
    This makes your armour shiny. Stand on Strange Liquid (on Ground Floor) and cast the spell.
    Fumaticus Protectium
    To cast this, carry the Red Herring and the Power Pong Plant.
    Project Physical Body
    The Broken Talisman (repaired by Florin) and the crystal ball are needed to cast.
    Release Spell
    You must have the White Gold Ring and Gimbal must be free. Once this has been cast, summoning the character Is in the right order completes the game. The order is the same as the pictures in the Gallery on the Second Floor, with Gimbal last. (David Roberts, Christopher King in Your Sinclair issue 12 , Page 26) 3969

If you give the bottle of liquid, from the roof, to Flavin the Dwarf and then take it away from him, your strength will increase.
    If you get the teleport key and then press teleport, you will be transported to the teleport pad. Do not drop the glowing bottle or else the Banshee will appear and you will be unable to go through the room containing the giant vase. (David Moore in Sinclair User issue 48 , Page 21) 4213

The weight you can carry is equivalent to your strength if your strength is 95 per cent you can carry some very heavy objects; if it is ten per cent you cannot carry much. As David Moore of Malvern March issue -said, you give the bottle to Florin (not FlavinW to retain strength, what he did not say is that it can be repeated time and time again.
    Characters should be fed every five or six hours and kept happy hourly. Orik can be summoned after four hours into the game - game time. There is a large number of clues to be collected from Banshee, who is released from the glowing bottle. A few are listed:
    A distant cousin of mine is pretending to be a pool of liquid. A spell could be of use to both of you.
    The proof is in the bottle. Lend it to Florin and gain strength by your actions when you claim it back.
    They that would be last shall be first and the first shall be last.
    Bring back lost in space!
    Red herrings are not always fish!
    Candle light, Candle bright, Four leaf clover, From the night, Without the lot, Your chance is slight.

    Which brings me to the question, how do you light that darned candle? How can you read it?
    Also, if those clues do not confuse you the crystal ball in the lift is very helpful, showing messages such as: A spirit appears and tells you that Samsun will be of much use to you if you give him the javelin. The mist clears to show Thor helping you in the lift. In the midst of the mist you see a tarot card which means death and destruction, or the demolishing of hopes and pride.
    You can see a wall come crashing to the ground. There is Willand, a noise and the image of an old Devon religious book written in Hebrew.
    And ... the magic talisman will be of much use to you if you can mend it - or get somebody else to mend it. To cast the spell FUMATICUS PROTECTIUM you will require two very smelly objects.
    Also, the mirror - odd ball - is a good guide to your strength and the items you are carrying. Miolnir - belonging to Elrand on the second floor - enables you to throw light things at people. Elf horn - belonging to Samsun on the second floor - will summon anyone awake and who wants to be summoned.
    Wand of Command allows you to command any character who wishes to be commanded. (James Stallwood in Sinclair User issue 49 , Page 30) 4245

Use James Stallwood's tips to keep yourself and the other characters alive, including Orik the Cleric on level two.
    Give the Miolnir to Thor in the lift and command him to help. You will now be able to move the lift to the basement and ground floor. Get the shield from the ground floor and the candle from level three and go to the roof where there is a four-leaf clover - then cast the spell CANDELABRIUM ILLUMINATIS.
    The candle will now be lit and you can place it in the dark room in level three without the danger of dying. Now drop the glowing bottle and release the Banshee. Get the power pong plant from the basement and the red herring from level three and cast FUMATICUS PROTECTIUM - you will now be unaffected by the gas which can be found on level one.
    Now command Thor to help on level four in the room with the wall in it - he will crumble a wall somewhere else in his attempt to crumble this one. Give Elrond the trumpet from level one and command him to help in the wall room on level two. He will blow down the wall and you will be able to roam freely along the length of level two.
    You will also notice that two bricks have been deposited on the ground after this event. Stack these one on top of the other to make some steps. You can now leap over the wall on level four. Now go to the ground floor and summon Rosmar. Give her the pocket laser and command her to help - she'll melt a hole in the wall and give you access to the residence of Gimbal.
    Now get the javelin from level four, give it to Samsun and command him to help at the pit on the ground floor. He'll throw his platform into the middle allowing you to cross, cautiously, into Gimbal's residence -the most magic room.
    You will notice a broken talisman on the ground floor. To fix it give it to Florin with the tube of glue and command him to help. Later on in the game you will need to throw each of the crystals at Gimbal. (Mat Newman in Sinclair User issue 50 , Page 20) 4264

Merge in the Basic loader, edit it, and put a Print command in the program. Run the loader and when the game starts an interesting message will appear on the screen. (Chris Piersenné in Sinclair User issue 50 , Page 20) 4265

In addition he offers advice for Spellbound adventurers stuck at the lift - "Take Miolnir from Elrand and the Elf-horn from Samsun. Enter the lift with both and summon Thor with the horn. Give him Miolnir and, using the wand of command, get him to help." (Tristan Elrond Belladonna in Sinclair User issue 52 , Page 55) 4521

Q: How do you repair the lift?
    A: Go to Level Two and nick Miolnir from Elrand. Summon Thor to lift, give Miolnir to him, and command him to help. He'll now fix the lift. Don't under any circumstances try to get Miolnir back from him!
    Q: How do you get Crystallium Spectralis?
    A: Go to the Most Magic Room, drop the three crystals on the floor and make sure you're carrying the white gold ring, wand of command and crystal ball. Blow the elf-horn and summon Orik. Give him the crystal ball and the spell can now be cast.
    Q: How do you get the Release Spell?
    A: Carry the white gold ring and make sure that Gimbal is free.
    Q: How do you help the Banshee's distant cousin?
    A: Stand over the blob on the Ground Level and cast Armourous Photonous. You now have glowing armour! (DGW Griffith, Chris Delahunty in Your Sinclair issue 43 , Page 36) 4665

Q: How do you get past the Gas Room?
    A: Cast the spell Fumaticus Protectium. To do this you must have the red herring and the power pong plant. That makes you immune.
    Q: How do you get over the wall on the fourth floor?
    A: Summon Thor to the wall and command him to help - he will throw a lightning bolt. Get trumpet and give it to Elrand. Command Elrand to help in the filth screen on the second floor, and he will blow the wall down. Pick up the brickwork (two pieces) and goto the wall on the fourth floor. Drop one piece, jump onto it, then drop the other. Now you can get over the wall!
    Q: How do you get the fuse off Lady Rosemary?
    A: You can't. Give her the laser instead. (Paul Gavine, Mark McGregor, Jason Yip in Your Sinclair issue 44 , Page 36) 4682

Q: How to cast Candelium Illuminatus?
A: You need the candle, the four-leaf clover and the shield.

Q: What does Florin want?
A: Try giving him the bottle of liquid, the glue or the broken talisman.

Q: What to do with the javelin?
A: Nip down to the ground floor and stop before the Pit. Then summon Samsun and command him to help.

Q: How do you cast Project Physical Body?
A: You need the crystal ball and the magic talisman (repaired).

Q: How do you summon people?
A: Get the wand of command and try it!

Most of the characters will help you somewhere in the castle but they must first be given an object
that they desire.

Florin the dwarf - give the bottle of liquid to him and then get it back, it will restore your
energy. Give him the bar of gold, the broken talisman and the tube of glue. Then command him to
help you. He will fix the talisman .

Lady Rosmar - summon her to (F3), give the pocket laser to her and then ask her to help. She will
burn a hole in the wall.

Elrand the Halfelven - summon him to (D6) then give him the trumpet. Now command him to help. He
will then blow the trum- pet and the wall collapses.

Samson the Strong - summon him to (F7), then give the javelin to him. Now command him to help. A
platform across the pit will be built

Thor - get the Miolinir off Elrand then summon Thor to the lift. Give the Miolinir to him and
command Thor to help. He will fix the control box. You can now go to levels F and G. Summon Thor
to (B2) and command him to help (he must have the Miolinir). He will send a bolt of lightning at
the tower which loosens a wall. This must be done before Elrand can destroy the wall at (D6).

Banshee - once it has been released then you can command it to help. This will provide you with
clues.

Orik the cleric - He wants the book of shadows.


Objects

Four leaf clover (A2): carry this when casting Candlium illuminatus.

Battle of liquid (A2): see Florin.

Wand of command (A9): you can command people when carrying this.

Javelin (B9): see Samson.

Ancient scroll (B2): read it for a clue.

Engraved candle (C2): for casting Candlium illuminatus.

Key: read it for a clue.

Teleport key (C6): when you are carrying this you can teleport to the teleport pad.

Red herring (C7): part 1 of the

Fumaticus Protection spell.

Power pong plant (G2): part 2 of the Fumaticus Protection spell.

Glowing bottle (C7): needed to get past room (C3); when it is dropped it releases Banshee.

Book of shadows (D3): not known but Orik likes it.

Gold bar (D6): See Florin.

White gold ring (D8): not known but it is very magical.

Pocket laser (E3): see Lady Rosmar.

Broken Talisman (E7): see Florin.

Magic Talisman: part 1 of the

Miolinir (E): see Thor.

Elf horn (5): when you are carrying this you can summon people.

Book of runes (E3): pick this up along with the runestone and you will be able to read it.

Tube of glue (E6): see Florin.

Sticky bun (E2): once you have picked this up you cannot drop it.

Trumpet (E9): see Elrand the halfelven.

Mirror: when you have this you can see what you are carrying and the present status of your energy
level

Pool of liquid (E3): stand on this and cast Armouris Photonicus.


Spells

Crystalium Spectralis: not known but probably something to do with the 3 coloured crystals.

Candlium Illuminatus: not known but the four leaf clover and the candle are needed to cast it.

Armouris Photonicus: stand on the pool of liquid at (E3) and cast the spell. Once you have cast it
you can travel safely through (C3) without the glowing bottle.

Fumaticus Protectium: once cast you can travel safely through (E3).

Project Physical Body: once cast you can travel to people.


The Game

You start in (C6). Drop the advert, then pick up the teleport key. Now teleport. Go right, then
up and back into (C7). Pick up the glowing bottle and teleport. Pick up the teleport pad and go
all the way left to the lift. On the way pick up the red herring and drop the teleport pad in (C5).
Move the lift to level 2 and move right until you find Samson, take the Elf horn from him. Go back
to the lift and drop the Red herring. Now go to the roof and go all the way right on the way
collect the Bottle of liquid and the Wand of command.

Teleport to Florin then exchange the Bottle of liquid with him until your energy is replenished.
Then command him to wake up. Take the Teleport pad and go to the lift. Drop the Teleport pad and
summon Florin. Now command him to sleep.

Move to the second floor, find Elrand. Take Miolinir from him and teleport back to the lift.
Summon Thor and give Miolinir to him then command him to help. After that command him to sleep.

Move to the basement and get the Red herring and the Power pong plant. Cast the Fumaticus
Protectium spell then drop them. Now go to the ground floor, move right and get the laser. Summon
Lady Rosmar, give the laser to her and command her to help. Now stand on the Pool of Liquid and
cast Amarous Photonicus.

Go back to the lift, move to the first floor, go all the way right and get the trumpet then
teleport. Command Thor to wake up and go to (B2). Then summon Thor and command him to help.

Go back to the lift. Move to level 2 and go all the way right. Summon Elrand, give him the trumpet
and command him to help. That should get you quite far into the game but you will have to wait
until the rest of the solution arrives before you can complete it.

CASTING SPELLS


CRYSTALIUM SPECTRALIS

Using the map printed on page 66 of the May issue to get your bearings, first get the three
Crystals-one is found in room B5, another in room A8 and the third in D8. Take them to room F9, and
get the Crystal Ball from the lift, then take the Elf Horn from Samson. Now take the White Gold
Ring from room D8, go back to room F9 and summon a character. When it appears, give it the Crystal
Ball, pick up the White Gold Ring and cast the spell. You will also need the Wand of Command from
room A9. Throw all three at Gimbal and he will be freed.


CANDLIUM ILLUMINATUS.

Get the Candle from room C2, the Shield from room F2, the Four Leaf Clover from room A2, and the
Wand of Command from room A9. Go to Rosmar (Level A), drop the Four Leaf Clover, go to room F3 and
get the Pocket Laser. Go backto Rosmar and give her the Pocket Laser. Cast the spell. NB. The
Clover must be on the floor.


ARMOURIS PHOTONICUS

This will enable you to go in rooms B8 and C3 without the Glowing Bottle.


FUMATICUS PROTECTIUM

Get the Power Pon g Plant from room G2 and the Red Herring from room C7. Take them to Florin and
castthe spell. You will now be able to go into the gas room E3 without being killed.


PROJECT PHYSICAL BODY

Get the Glue from room E6 and the Broken Talisman from room F7. Give both to Florin and command him
to help. Take the Talisman back from him. Get the Crystal Ball and cast the spell.

All that is required after casting the release spell is to go to a room with no characters in and
summon all the characters in the following order: Elrand, Samsun, Thor, Rosmar, Banshee, Florin,
Orik and Gimbal and that, as they say will be that (I hope...)

(Unknown in Crash issue 31 , Page 65) 6119

In order to get past the tower on level four you must have the two lumps of brickwork. To get the
bricks take Eklrand to D6 and after he has destroyed the wall two lumps of brickwork will be
created, one on either side of the hole. Take them both to B2 and drop them both. Pick up the
lower brick and leave the other one where it is. The brick which you've picked up can be used to
cross the pit in F7 along with the platform which Samsun throws.


Jumping at the pictures in the gallery will give you an extra 1% of score and without collecting
these extra points it is impossible to get 100% in the game.

In both solutions (the full and the partial) listed on Tipshop, both refer to getting a newspaper from Robin. Robin only carries a bow. To get the newspaper, you have to take it from Moonmot (who usually stands outside the castle).

I HAVE found a bug in Spellbound. Firstly go to the roof and collect the wand. Now command any character to 'be happy' and then command them to 'wake up'. Complete solutions
Get the glowing bottle from the L-Shaped Room, go to the Roof
Garden, and get the wand of command (it's in the room at the
extreme light). Also get the bottle of liquid. Go to the second
floor, and get the elf horn from Samsun, and Miolnir from Elrand.

    Summon Thor and Florin (you may have to go back and wake him up) to the lift. Give Miolnir to Thor, and command him to help. He'll fix the lift. Give the bottle of liquid to Florin. Command him and Thor to sleep. When your energy is getting low, simply take the bottle of liquid from Florin and hand it back. This will replenish your strength.
    Move to the ground floor, then stand on the pool of liquid. Cast Armouris Photonicus. You can now drop the glowing bottle and free Banshee. Take the shield and the candle (from the 3rd floor) and go to the first room in the Roof Garden - the room with the four leaf clover. Cast Candellium Illuminatum (make sure you have the shield!). You'll need the candle if you're to read the ancient scroll.
    Get the red herring from the third floor, and the power-pong plant from the basement. You can now cast Fumaticus Protectium - and be able to pass through the gas room on the 1st floor. Get the trumpet, and give it to Elrand.
    Go to the Tower (4th floor) and summon Thor. Command him to help. His thunderbolt will weaken the wall on the 2nd floor. Go to the wall on the 2nd floor, summon Elrand, and command him to help. He'll blow the wall down with his trumpet. Take the two pieces of brickwork left over from this, and use them to build a way to get over the Tower (4th floor). Get the javelin from the 4th floor, and give it to Samsum.
    Summon Rosmar to the Secret Tunnel Entrance, give her the pocket laser, and ask her to help. This will open up the tunnel. Go through as far as the Pit. Summon Samsun and ask him to help. He'll throw his platform into the middle of the pit, enabling Magic Knight to get across. (To make things slightly easier, the pieces of brickwork can also be used here - but first get both coloured crystals from the 4th floor).
    The broken talisman can be fixed by giving it and the tube of glue to Florin, and commanding him to help. You can now cast Project Physical Body by holding the talisman and the crystal ball.
    The idea now is to keep the various characters well-fed, happy, and to make sure they have plenty of sleep (don't worry about Banshee). Do this until you have 36 hours left on the clock (Crystallium Spectralis only works with 36 hours or less to go). Now go to the Most Magic Room. Hold the white gold ring. Summon Orik the Clerik, and give him the crystal ball and the book of Shadows. Cast Crystallium Spectralis, then throw the three coloured crystals at Gimbal. He'll now be free.
    Cast the Release Spell by holding the white gold ring and the magic talisman. Now go to the last room on the second floor (that is. the room furthest to the right).
    Working your way from right to left along the second floor, blow the elf-horn and summon the characters in the order you see them in their portraits. Once you've summoned the last character (Gimbal) you'll have successfully sent all the characters home, and hence completed the game.
